Let’s Talk, Men! It’s Men’s Health Week!

Mens health, man about to go swimming

This week (June 9th-15th) is all about the guys. It’s Men’s Health Week, and it’s a great time for us all to check in on the men in our lives – and for men to check in with themselves!

For too long, men’s health has been on the back burner. The statistics paint a stark picture. Nationally, men are more likely to die from cancer and are at a higher risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes. The picture in our local area of Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire reflects these national trends and highlights the urgent need for focused action.

Here at WorkWellWest, we know that being healthy and happy makes a huge difference at work. So, how can we all help?

For the Lads:

  • See a doc: Got a health niggle? Seriously, just book the appointment.
  • Talk about it: Chat with a mate, partner, or colleague. A problem shared is a problem halved.
  • Move a bit more: A quick walk at lunch, anything! It all adds up.

For the Bosses:

  • Create a good vibe: Make it normal to talk about health at work.
  • Be flexible: Let your staff get to medical appointments. It’s a no-brainer.
  • Share resources: Point your team towards helpful services (like ours!).

A supportive workplace makes a massive difference.
