Neurodiversity Celebration Week
18 March, 2026
This week (16–20 March 2026) is Neurodiversity Celebration Week, an initiative that shines a light on the strengths of different thinking styles and how we can build an inclusive culture at work.
Why recognising neurodiversity matters
Neurodiversity describes the variations in how we think including autism, ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia, and others. When workplaces design roles, environments and processes with this in mind, they unlock benefits for their whole team. This is similar in the way that designing around disabled people improved the built environment for all.
Despite clear benefits, employment outcomes still lag. ONS data shows disabled people face a persistent employment gap, with the lowest rates among those reporting autism as their main impairment.
The legal and good‑practice foundations (UK)
Under the Equality Act 2010, employers must make reasonable adjustments to remove or reduce disadvantages linked to disability. Crucially, a formal diagnosis isn’t required for an employee to receive support. UK guidance from Acas and the CIPD outlines the organisational benefits of neuroinclusion such as improved wellbeing, retention, wider skills pipeline and fewer disputes.
